There’s something about hitting November that brings a strange mix of urgency and reflection.

On the one hand, you might feel like there’s not enough time left to work on any of the things you wanted to tackle this year. And on the other hand, you might be feeling the pressure of the countdown to the new year, trying to get as much as you can done in the next two months.

Regardless of where you stand right now, I believe that these journaling prompts will help you gain a sense of clarity, peace, and direction on how to focus your energy and attention in the next two months.

Stack of faith-based journals on a desk beside a potted plant and instant camera

1. If you could describe what you want the rest of 2025 to feel like in one word, what would it be?

Write down the first word that comes to mind. If a couple of words come to mind, that's ok, write them all down. Once you have your words down, try to narrow your list to one and unpack why that word resonated with you the most. Then, I challenge you to think about what it would look like to intentionally pursue that word in November and December.

2. What goals did you set at the start of the year? Which of them still matter to you?

As you review the goals you set at the beginning of this year, they may all still resonate with you; they may not. Write down the goals you remember setting at the beginning of the year, and then highlight or circle the ones you still care about. Are those goals still reachable within 2 months (be honest with yourself here)? If not, that's ok. Think about strides you can make towards reaching them in the next two months. If yes, consider whether you want to use the last 2 months of the year to pursue them or if you want to tackle them in the new year.

3. Where are you right now—mentally, emotionally, spiritually?

Pause and think about each of those areas of your life, and get honest with yourself about where you are right now in each of them.

4. What’s one small goal you could work towards in the next two months?

This doesn't have to be a big goal, but it should be realistic and doable in the next 2 months. Something that helped me when doing this prompt was reviewing my answers to prompt #2, and choosing one thing from that list that I could do, or at least make strides towards.

5. What do you need to let go of to finish this year well?

Think of anything that may be currently holding you back that you need to let go of. This could also be a space to reflect on this year and unpack anything that has come up that you realize is holding you back. Be open and honest with yourself here and again, make a plan for how you will go about letting these things go.

6. What would it look like to end the year with peace?

Think about what peace means to you in this season and then unpack what it would look like to intentionally seek it out for the rest of the year. Be very detailed in your response to this prompt and think about things like where you would be, how you would feel, and what things would need to shift in your life for your vision to become a reality.

7. Where have you already grown this year, even if it wasn’t part of the plan?

Sometimes we only measure our success by the things we were seeking out and completely ignore the wins that happened along the way that we may not have expected. Take a moment to reflect on this year, and unpack any growth you notice in yourself.

8. What prayers do you need to revisit before the year ends?

What's a prayer that you had at the beginning of the year that you feel like is still unanswered? Write to God about it. Be open and honest with Him about how you feel, and take this moment to lift that prayer request up to Him again.

9. Where do you need God’s wisdom or direction most right now?

Write to Him about it. Be open and honest with Him about the areas in your life where you're feeling lost right now and ask for His wisdom and guidance.

10. What kind of testimony do you want to carry into 2026?

What story do you want to tell about how you showed up in the final two months of the year? What would faithfulness look like now?

I pray these journaling prompts give you back a sense of clarity, peace, and direction on how to focus your energy and attention in the next two months. Before doing them, I felt like there wasn't much I could really still accomplish in these last two months, and now I feel renewed, hopeful, and encouraged about the next two months. I pray the same thing for you, friend!

Happy Journaling!!!
